Setting the Scene: Towards a European Plastics Pact 2020

In April Plus Pack joined a high-level meeting in Brussels initiated by the Dutch State Secretary for Infrastructure and Water Management, Stientje van Veldhoven, and French Minister of State for Ecological and Inclusive Transition, Brune Poirson. The purpose was to set the scene towards a common European Plastics Pact in 2020 together with representatives from other EU governments, the EU Commission, private companies and NGOs.

In an open and interactive dialogue, the necessary steps towards more sustainable plastic consumption and production in the future were discussed. Denmark was represented by Camilla Haustrup Hermansen and the Danish Ministry of Food and Environment in order to share Danish perspectives and concrete initiatives such as the Design Manual for Reuse and Recycling of plastic packaging.

Camilla Haustrup Hermansen, Director of Business Development, emphasises the importance the meeting holds for Plus Pack: “This meeting supports our sustainability vision, and confirms that the work we do every day to ensure 100% recyclable packaging solutions is the right direction.

In 2020, a Plastic Summit will be held to further discuss ideas and actions regarding the strategies for a common European agenda on a European Plastics Pact.
