Science Based Target initiative has approved Plus Pack’s emissions reduction target
Plus Pack commits to reduce scope 1 and scope 2 emissions 50% by 2030 from a 2018 base year, and to measure and reduce its scope 3 emissions. This near-term science-based emissions reduction target was approved using a streamlined target validation route exclusive to small and medium-sized enterprises, who are driving ambitious Climate Action.
"The Science Based Targets initiative marks an important step in our Circular 2024 strategy. Now the hard work starts to deliver real impact on our scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions. This includes investments in renewable energy, reducing the carbon footprint of our raw materials and the introduction of new circular products.”
Anders Top Haustrup - CEO Plus Pack Group
The Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) is a global initiative enabling businesses to set ambitious emissions reductions targets in line with the latest climate science. It is focused on accelerating companies across the world to halve emissions before 2030 and achieve net-zero emissions before 2050.
So far 3.000 businesses and financial institutions are already working with SBTi and of those, 1.194 to SBTi Net-Zero Standard. Among these companies are global companies like Kellogg Company, Nestlé, Mars, Starbucks, Coca Cola, Heineken N.V. and P&G.
We are already progressing well in our CO2 reduction goals, and by having a clear direction with SBTi we can ensure we are tracking and working in the most effective way possible. We have committed to SBTi through a process of developing our targets that align with legislation and follow the science-based knowledge. It is important to take action in order for progress to be made. We hope other companies join us in the needed commitment for climate action.
